POETRY OF PIXELS
Pixelpoesie eines Augenblicks. Das Kunstprojekt basiert auf einer fotografischen Momentaufnahme – einem persönlichen Ort, einer besonderen Stimmung, einem flüchtigen Augenblick im Raum, in der Natur. Aus dieser ursprünglichen Fotografie entsteht ein quadratisches Werk, das die Essenz der Szene auf eine abstrakte Weise neu interpretiert.
Zwischen 208 und 283 einzelne vertikale Pixel werden dabei aus dem Bild herausgearbeitet und von meinem jahrzehntelang auf Farbkombinationen geschulten Auge farblich individuell bearbeitet. Jeder Pixel steht für ein Fragment der Realität – herausgelöst aus dem Gesamtbild, isoliert, transformiert. Durch die gezielte Farbmodulation und die anschließende Vervielfältigung entsteht ein neues visuelles System. Maximal reduziert und doch voller Tiefe.
Die High-Tech Lamda Printtechnologie belichtet im Anschluss das Werk mit Lasern gestochen scharf auf Fotopapier. Das Ergebnis: brillante Farben, höchste Detailtreue und langanhaltende Qualität, welche die exakte Reproduktion feinster und lichtechter Farbabstufungen ermöglicht und dadurch digitale Präzision in unsere physische Welt überträgt.
Die abstrakte Umsetzung erlaubt eine zeitlose Interpretation. Ein Ort, eine Erinnerung wird kunstvoll konserviert – nicht als eindeutige Abbildung, sondern als emotionaler Resonanzraum. Während eine Landschaft visuell schnell erfasst und abgelegt wird, eröffnet die Abstraktion der Stimmung einen Raum für permanente Neuinterpretation.
Erstmals wurden die Arbeiten 2002 in der Galerie Kunsträume in Zermatt, Schweiz ausgestellt. Seither entwickelt sich das Projekt kontinuierlich weiter – als künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit Wahrnehmung, Fragmentierung und dem Wesen von Bildinformation.

TURN EMOTIONS INTO ABSTRACT ART
Inspired by the beauty of photography, and at the same time irritated by the transience of subjects that are always repeating and all too familiar with time, the attempt was made to capture the mood of a moment, a situation, a snapshot, and to transform it into a new composition, in which with each new observation, in the imagination, a separate image of the original situation is created. In the process, selected photographs are digitally scaled down and condensed into a single vertical row of over 200 pixels. This pixel row is then processed in the micromillimetre range and further colour-matched to the overall image.
The condensed colour dramaturgy of the actual subject is multiplied in the pixel repetition process. The result is an abstract picture whose content corresponds to a known or unknown subject, a very special mood or situation, but does not represent it in a concrete way. This way, the unique freedom of being able to think up your own picture in your thoughts, to evoke memories, let your imagination run free. The concrete original picture plays a secondary role, hidden in the composition of an abstract and timeless artwork.
Kim Küng lives and works in Zurich. After a solid education in graphic design and stations in New York City as well as at the ADC creative school, he developed an independent signature at the interface of art, design and visual communication. Kim Küng has been working as a freelance art director, brand developer and artist since 2003.His work moves between free artistic practice and applied design - always with a keen sense of form, color and concept. In addition to projects in the areas of corporate identity and design, he continuously creates independent works that seek a dialog with space, visual language and cultural context.
First presented in 2002 at the Galerie Kunsträume in Zermatt, Switzerland, the project has since developed into an ongoing exploration of the fundamentals of visual perception. The focus is on the fragmentary structure of image information as a reflection of epistemological questions - a profound discourse on seeing itself and the construction of reality in the image. The works open up multi-layered interpretations and challenge viewers to critically question their own position in the process of perception.

Kim Küng lebt und arbeitet in Zürich. Nach einer fundierten Ausbildung in Grafikdesign und Stationen in New York City sowie an der ADC-Kreativschule entwickelte er eine eigenständige Handschrift an der Schnittstelle von Kunst, Design und visueller Kommunikation. Seit 2003 ist Kim Küng als selbständiger Art Director, Markenentwickler und Künstler tätig.
Seine Arbeiten bewegen sich zwischen freier künstlerischer Praxis und angewandter Gestaltung – immer mit einem feinen Gespür für Form, Farbe und Konzept. Neben Projekten in den Bereichen Corporate Identity und Design entstehen kontinuierlich eigenständige Werke, die den Dialog mit Raum, Bildsprache und kulturellem Kontext suchen. Bild: Sandro Diener
